Anniversary weekend...

This is Darren and I at the Roof this weekend, and this is the only picture we got....dang it! It would have been cool had we taken the same picture on our first anniversary, because this is where we came for dinner then, too! Darren took me on a quick getaway this weekend, we stayed at the Grand America Hotel (the best!), ate at the Roof for dinner, watched the Joseph Smith movie, and then went to see the Blue Collar tour with Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, and Larry the Cable Guy at the Energy Solutions. Soooo much fun! It is a little crazy that it's been 16 years, wanted to post something significant that happened each year for the last 16...... 1995 - Married in March 1996 - Pregnant with McKennah born 4 days AFTER our 1st Anniversary, take a road trip to Canada when she was 3 months old, and flew to San Diego with the Lake's. 1997 - Had Logan, when he was just 10 weeks old packed up and took off to Texas for chiropractic school the DAY after Christmas. 1998 - Darren graduates from Northlake College in Irving, TX with his prerequisites, starts his 1st trimester at Parker Chiropractic College 1999 - McKennah at just 3 yrs old, takes herself out of time out, tries to follow her dad down to the dumpster, gets lost.....crosses a busy road, and is found holding a guy's hand going door to door trying to find her parents. 2000 - The twins are born, had to move into a bigger apartment, buy a minivan, Utah visitors came to town! 2001 - Darren graduates, and we drive off in our U-haul THAT VERY day! Kim plans their 10 yr High School reunion by phone/fax, and they both attend the weekend they return to Utah. McKennah starts Kindergarten. 2002 - We open up Peak Performance Chiropractic & Wellness on Gentile St. in Layton, and move into our 1st house. (855 E. 2200 S. Clearfield, UT) Darren competes in his first triathlon, the St. George Mini Tri! Winter Olympics come to Utah! Logan starts Kindergarten. 2003 - We hire staff, and no longer have to have our kids come to the office, and nap under our desks. We drive our staff down to Las Vegas for the Parker Chiropractic Convention, leaving my kid's for the 1st time EVER! 2004 - Kim takes her 1st ever plane ride with our staff back to Parker convention, and they take a week off for their first trip to Oahu, Hawaii! We spent our Thanksgiving at Disneyland! We are the contractors, and start construction on our new house in Syracuse. 2005 - Kim gets Lasik surgery, and they go to New York to celebrate their 10th anniversary! All my kids are in school! After taking 5 months and 2 weeks to build, we move into our new house. Took our kids on their 1st ever plane ride to San Diego for Sea World, Legoland, Animal Kingdom, and Disneyland! 2006 - Took our very first cruise to the Western Caribbean, (Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Grand Cayman). And having outgrown our office started to build another office off Hill Field Road in Layton. 2007 - Moved into our new office, visited Steven and his family in Chicago, and made our first trip down to Powell. 2008 - Went on a Hawaiian Cruise, and to Lake Powell with friends. McKennah starts Junior High, and graduates to Young Women two weeks AFTER I am released! 2009 - We flew down to New Orleans to watch the Utah Utes beat Alabama 31-17 in the Sugar Bowl! We hopped the pond and picked up my aunt from her mission in Hong Kong! Took our kids to Yellowstone, to camp with the Elmore's and Kelly's. And ran the Wasatch Back Ragnar Race. Weren't we Crazy! Logan graduated to Young Men's! 2010 - Went on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. Celebrated 15 years with a Wedding Crashers party with all my favorite peep's! Went to Universal Studios. Logan starts Junior High. The Utes go undefeated for their 1st 8 games, took a trip down to South Bend Indiana to watch them get slaughtered by Notre Dame making it 2 games in a row 28-3. When you write it all down...amazing what can happen in 16 short years. How lucky I am to spend my life with the man of my dreams, who has made all my dreams come true.

Our "Amazing Race".....

This month we celebrated our 16th Wedding anniversary! It was Darren's year to plan our date night, and so the day before our anniversary I had put together this "Amazing Race" for my man!

The first clue read: "Find the blockbuster, 40 yr. old....there may be more than one, but only one has your clue." (The clue was found taped to the front of a 40 Year Old Virgin video.)

Darren worked at Blockbuster while we were dating. Before his mission we decided I would date other people and whatever happens, happens. Well.... the weekend before he left on his mission we were both at "the Bay." He with his friends, me with mine. At the end of the night, my friend had caught him in a corner with some chic! A little (a lotta) heartbroken, I had always teased him that I wasn't jealous, and why would I be.....she was a 40 yr. old who liked cats!

Hence, the lady with her cats.

This clue threw Darren off just a little bit. I did not enjoy his shaved head, so he thought that the clue was referring to his head as a "pumpkin." But while we were dating and his house was being built -- he and his family lived in a rental house in Layton. It had wall to wall orange carpet and his mom always referred to it as "the pumpkin."

The night of "the Bay" was our last "night out" before his mission, and the restaurant "Camelot" (now "the Castle" reception center in Layton)was our first date when he got home.

(Spying on Darren as he found his 3rd clue)

Whenever you take home a "doggy bag" from the Roof restaurant, they wrap your food up in foil in the shape of a swan. Darren took me there, after he had been home from his mission about 2 weeks, one of my fave's!

That clue read: "I wasn't "foiled," when you faked your way through a show when we were dating. But sometimes your baby blues are hypnotizing. Your next stop is the person's house, who we were eye to eye with that night, as well."

Key words were "faked" and "hypnotizing"....while we were dating, we doubled with a few other couples and went to a hypnotist. 3 of us were called up on stage, and ALL of us, FAKED it! I remember looking into Darren and our friend Brian Kinne's eyes, and trying my hardest not to burst out laughing. That clue led him to the house of Brian Kinne.

While we were dating Darren had played competitive volleyball, going to the Utah Summer games, playing at Weber State. He loved it, and he loved his "Spank Me" shirt. I would say out of a 7-day work week....Darren would wear it 4 of the days out of 7. He wore it until it died. And when we did finally bury it. He cut out the logo, and it withered away in our "change" jar, until eventually it disappeared. This isn't identical, to Darren's disappointment they do not make them anymore, so this was my own "attempted" version.

This clue said, "Your next task is to open the present, and take it to the house of someone who will truly appreciate it, when you show it (the shirt) to them."

(Darren walking into Tyler Elmore's office with his shirt!)

Tyler and Kristin Elmore were my witnesses of just how much Darren loved, and how often Darren wore, that stinkin' shirt!

What???? A fork? Wrapped up in the clue from Tyler and Kristin was this fork. Before Darren's mission we had gone to dinner with the Elmore's to the spaghetti factory. Darren had asked for the best seat in the house, and they sat us outside on the balcony to watch the sunset. It was fun, and it was just the four of us. We were always goofing off and Darren had thrown a piece of food at me, so I grabbed his napkin off his lap and hucked it over the balcony-- not a second later, had he snatched my fork out of my hand and sent it flying over as well. --Oh, the memories.

His last clue read, "Next, you must unscramble the letters on all your clues to spell a five letter word that will lead you to your next destination"

Spelling the word "Impact" meaning Impact Guns. Darren's idea of the "ideal" date.

We have had our concealed weapons permits for about 2 yrs now, and did not have a gun. So I went out on a limb, and purchased one and we spent a few hours on the shooting range.

Check out those shots! Watch out! The Scott's are packing heat.

We have had some good times, it was fun to relive, and reminisce about things that we haven't thought about for a long time.

Looking forward to 16 more!

Let the countdown begin!

My handsome little Logan has needed braces for a few years now....when he was younger he had a mouth like a shark! He had two baby teeth grow one right in front of the other, that made it look like a molar was growing-- right where his front tooth should have been. We had that pulled when he was about 8. Afraid that one was a baby tooth, and the other a permanent our dentist told us to rest easy, and that there was another tooth there to replace it. Happy to see that growing in, and his smile looking perfect....he of course, had an accident in PE in 5th grade, that had cracked that new tooth right in half!! The dentist had to replace it, but again told us not to worry because he still had two more teeth trying to come in! Wow....needing some stability in that little mouth. We are hoping all the teeth involved, are planning to stay.
This kid loves to smile.

Valentine's Day....

My sweet, sweet husband arranged a date for us with one of my besties! We have been friends for years, but sad to say our time together is far and few. Sushi, the movie True Grit, Just Dance, air hockey and foosball. Happy Valentine's Day, to me! Thank you, my love!

Think, think, think, think....think.

How should I decorate Ayden's room.....??? He makes it very easy.

Fiddler On the Roof...

February came and went....and all because of this little number. McKennah once again surprised us by trying out for her school play- (cold turkey!) and landing one of the lead parts. Over 100 people were in the cast, practicing since October - during school, and after school, their hard work had all paid off. Love her, loved the play. She had a lot of fun, and made some lifelong friends. It was a great 2 weeks!

(This is a poster I made her for her birthday as a keepsake)
