Snowbasin Saturday!

We spent Saturday on the slopes...and what a great day! We, along with the Newman's, Davis', Call's and Dart's packed up early Saturday morning arriving at Snowbasin at 9:30. The sun shined until the very last run of the day, when the clouds finally rolled in and the wind started to pick up. It was nice that they finally gave in and invited the only snowboarders along in the bunch! Great weather, good company, fantastic food! (And no broken bones ;) ) What a way to spend the day! Thanks guys!

"A Hard Day Shopping..."

The twins are, our ever pranksters....... and began early last year when they tried to toilet paper Darren and I---- in bed. Setting their alarm clock to 3:00 am to get the job done! It's continued off and on, and has taken on a new level!

Darren threatened to wake Jaret up early with a glass of water one morning...but Jaret- on alert - heard Darren's
"Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum"
footsteps coming down the hall and ran for cover! Not sleeping well all week "worried about waking up wet," thought he would beat Darren to the punch, and repay his loss of sleep-- by hiding an alarm clock set for 5:30am in our room. The little monster!

But alas...in his sweet slumber...we caught him pooped after a
"hard day shopping."
Hat, purse, heels, lipstick and nail polish.



We would just like to gently remind him....the score is still 2-1....and mom and dad don't like to lose!

Science Fair...

Over the years we've done our share...we have learned that Orville Redenbacher's microwave popcorn pops the fastest and has the least amount of unpopped kernels, we learned the best way to dye an Easter egg is with Kool-Aid, and we learned that Dove soap will last the longest!

Well....the results are in...Walmart's brand "Great Value" is in fact a

GREAT VALUE!

It absorbed the most, was the strongest of the 5 brands, was only a 1/2 a towel, as opposed to the others being a full size and of course, was the cheapest!

Farewell, Quasi...

In the movie "Nemo," Nemo says he lives in an Anemone...as many clown fish do. So, imagine my horror as I came across the following...

Meet... "Boo!" He is our anemone. The boys at Aquatic Dreams said that the anemones were such "pains", and they didn't like 'em. But we...well......this is actually Boo#2. I should've gave him up after he climbed up the wall, into our overflow, clogged up our drain and overflowed our fish tank all onto our hardwood floors. But no, we saved him, he was injured, but he was saved, and we were proud. Poor Quasi.

This fish tank was Darren's birthday present, and the fish was his father's day. Quasi isn't the first to go. And the kids just feel it proper to recognize the rest...

Goodbye Marco, and Marco. So long, P. Sherman, Wallaby Way, and Sydney. Boo #1. Lawnmower, and Stripes. We miss you.

Little girl, no more....

Our Little McKennah is growing up... hard to believe she will be 14 and a Mia Maid in about a month and a half.

I don't know if it's her surpassing me in shoe sizes, fitting in all my hand me downs, or the fact that she has to sit on a stool so I can reach the top of her head. But.... our little "Sister Sue" is growing up.

McKennah made the 1st EVER Legacy Junior High School Basketball team. She worked really hard and pretty much on her own. (I don't know no basketball) Over 80 people tried out, and she made it. She does not play Varsity, but most of JV and I can see her hard work, as she is improving everyday.

She also had tried out for the school play of "High School Musical" and made that as well, (pictures to come later!!) All of this...and staying on top of grades, schoolwork, young women's, and friends. We are proud of you, McKennah.

Way to go!!

A new year, a new resolution...

2010...really? ...and thanks to my dear friend Des, who told me I really "kinda suck at it" --blogging that is-- it is now debuting among my Top 10 resolutions. I cannot promise a weekly, I'm no Des Hansen, nor will I even try for a daily post, my shout out to Lisa Bingham...but I will try, and feel it is more than reasonable...monthly. I will even say it again. I will be trying to post monthly. So, my dear followers....if there are any of you left. I attempt yet again; to catch up, with a little thing I would like to call:

August 2009

At the end of August our adventures took us to dear 'ol Yellowstone Nat'l Park. I had never been and Darren hadn't been up since he was a scout. So we packed up the trailers and headed off with the Elmore's and Kelly's.

the kid's had such a good time, they are hoping that somehow, someway this will become a new tradition.

September 2009 and SYRACUSE STORM FOOTBALL

I love this time of year! Logan was playing for his 2nd year, and was doing sooo awesome! He was confident, he was working hard --and then we had a neighborhood party and Logan ended up cutting the top of his foot, the first week of conditioning. So, while things are fresh and new the first two weeks of football, when a mom remembers to bring the camera, Logan was sitting out. I do not have a picture of him in a uniform this year, however I did get one of his foot. I was really proud of him getting dressed for each practice, making sure he was on time, and supporting his team, although he couldn't play. It must've been so hard for him. He did come back, full strength, playing over 1/2 the game at nose guard or wide receiver. Way to go Logan!

It was Jaret's 3rd year for football and he soooo wanted to move up to Mighty Mites...that was until they slapped the title of "QB" on his back. Yes, little Jare was quarterback this year, and he did a great job! We really should have moved Jare up this year, but because it was Ayden's 1st year, we made him stay back. Ayden wasn't too happy at first. At the end of the football season last year he said he wanted to play...around Christmas time when it was too cold- he didn't want to play...as sign ups were approaching he again wanted to play...when sign ups arrived he didn't want to play. So I did-- what any normal mom named Kimberly Estoque Scott would do: and made him play!

But then again, Ayden did what "anyone who knows" this little Ayden would do...and that's--to tell it like it really is in the huddle. And I quote"I HATE FOOTBALL... the only reason I am here, is because my parents made me. I would rather sleep outside in the winter, than play football...." Oh, really?? Well, I Kimberly Estoque Scott after having Jaret come to me and sing, "Guess what Ayden said in the huddle today?" Told him to march his little football padded fanny (lucky him) back to those coaches, and tell them that "he was sorry, he was having a bad day, and he will be the hardest worker from now on." And believe it or not he was. He was definitely the most improved, got better and better each game -- by the last game he was in the entire game playing both offense and defense, and made his game high of 4 tackles. He came off the field at the end of the game saying, "FOR SURE I am playing again next year..." However, that WAS 4 months ago, and had I posted this way back then, it could've ended right there-- but we are yet again in the cold months of December and January. Right now Ayden's answer is "maybe..." And mine is "Oh. No."


October 2009

I love the fall, the months get cooler, the leaves start to fall...and the holidays are just beginning. We had our fair share of Halloween fun this year. Beginning with McKennah and a party with her and her friends.

They had a good time walking around the neighborhood on a picture scavenger hunt, they bobbed for plastic bloody fingers, played scar tag, and watched "The Watcher in Woods" while eating pizza. She has a great group of friends, I love having them over!

Next it was our turn to party with the scalawags and harlots. We have such a great neighborhood with such fun and creative people! We ate like Kings and Queens this party... mouthwatering ribs, corn bread, corn and all the fixins'. Then we too, got to go on our own little Treasure Hunt around Syracuse City. Where in the end we had to actually DIG up a buried little treasure! Sooo fun!

Here is a picture of our cute little hostesses. Kriste Miles, Marla Call, and Desiree Hansen. At the end of each party Kriste is always asking "Ok, who's turn is it next to throw a party?" (Mind you this is the same girl that threw an ugly sweater Christmas party, had an 80's Era Bunco game. )

We have such fun girls working with us at our office, they actually talked the doctor into dressing up this year! By saying dress up or we'll quit! He would do anything for his favorite staff EVER! And we were actually prepared with the costumes already!

November 2009

Little Logan turns 12! YIKES! We had a small group come and party with us at the new Boondocks in Kaysville. It was a blast, and everyone was well entertained for the 3 alloted hours, wishing they could all stay just a little bit longer! Thanks for coming: Aidan Bailey, Sam and Noah Read, Nick Faulkner, Trenton Moyes, Josh Peterson, Mitch Lloyd, Jared Slater and Ben Alyk.

Logan couldn't stop talking about his birthday this year, we had to have it the 1st week of December-- waiting for Boondocks to actually open. So I would say "Why are you so excited?...is it because you can't wait to go to Boondocks?" And he said "no, mom-- because I get the Priesthood!" Awwwww....my "Wittle Wo" yes you do. And you will respect it, and you will honor it, and you will always strive to live your life to be worthy of it, and you will use it, and it will bless you, and it will bless others. Because that's the way Logan is. I love this little boy, and am so proud to call him mine...for now.

December 2009

We did something a little different this year, having been inspired by a couple of little books written by Betty Van Orden called the 12 Days of Christmas, and the 12 Days of Christmas Encore. She is the mother of one of my dearest friends Heather Giacolone who had told me about the books. In a nutshell, it is a way of making the Christmas holidays more special, Christ centered, and spent with family. We loved it, and have put it on our permanent tradition list. Here were our 12 days this year...

Day #12 - Building Gingerbread Houses (reminding us all to build a House Of God)

Day #11 - Reading "Elf on the Shelf" and beginning the hiding of the elf who is ALWAYS watching. Reminding them "I know you all no longer believe in Santa and Elves, but know that

Heavenly Father and Jesus are ALWAYS watching you!"

Day #10 - Painting of new ornaments, and discussing what all the decorations on the tree represent. The Star- Star of Bethlehem, Candy Cane- Shepherd's Crook, Etc. Etc. Etc.

Day #9 - Family Game Night with Play Doh, Making Christmas Carols out of Playdoh and having to guess the song!

Day #8 - Darren's Family Christmas Party- Reading of the Christmas Story, and each family performing a talent or sharing a story about the Meaning of Christmas.

Day #7 - Family Movie Night: Blind Side and to see the Ogden City Lights

Day #6 - Making and Decorating Cookies to give to others that serve us.

Day #5 - Kim's Family Christmas Party, family games, good company, and ending it all while singing "Silent Night"

Day #4 - Wrapping and Delivering gifts to neighbors and friends "Giving is always better than receiving"

Day #3 - Family Christmas Party at my Cousin Blenda's house for the performing of a live nativity scene, reading of the Christmas story and carols. Playing Basketball/games.

Day#2 - Night to cuddle up and read Christmas books together while sipping hot cocoa, and having treats.

Day #1 - Wrapping and delivering gifts to our sub for santa family. Then coming home to warm our feet, watch a Christmas movie together with treats, and build the "Big Fort" where everyone sleeps that night in their new jammies, awaiting Christmas Day.

Thank you Betty Van Orden! For helping our family have the BEST Christmas yet! The holidays are such a busy time, we lose focus, and run around here and there, it was nice to plan things out, to have the kids look forward to spending time with each other, and to reflect upon what the reason for the season is all about. And here I am, Jan. 5th -- already contemplating just what to do next year!

We can't wait!
