McKennah "Can Do Hard Things"

Love her....love her sooo much.  After spending her Sophomore year at Clearfield, planting her roots, making a big group of good friends.....McKennah decided to transfer to Northridge her junior year.  Our little girl and her love for choir and drama, left to be a part of a better program, one that would fit her needs.  Trying to weigh out the pros and cons of the obvious choices Syracuse and Layton with her, McKennah came to us and told us she prayed about it-- twice.....and was confident and SURE Northridge was where she was to go!

We applied for a variance in February, it was approved in March, and she tried out for their Performing choirs, and the school play the last two weeks of her sophomore year.  Making them both was  confirmation she made the right choice!

She made the play....Les Miserables last summer.....but they spent the 4th week of school auditioning for which roles.  McKennah wanted sooo much and tried out for Eponine, and Fantine.

The night before tryouts, darling girl......found her asleep with this in her hand....

"What can I do?"

"I can do it by........having good sleep."
"I can do it by........showing emotion in the song."
"I can do it by........showing facial expressions."
"I can do it by........showing dynamics."
"I can do it by........hitting the right notes."
"I can do it by........being competitive."
"I can do it by........showing my excitement."
"I can do it by........putting a smile on my face."
"I can do it by........showing others they can."
"I can do it by........using tall vowels."
"I can do it.............if I put my mind to it."
"I can do it by........listening to others sing."
"I can do it by........putting myself with a good group"
"I can do it by........working with others."
"I can do it by........when I listen to my directors."
"I can do it by........warming up."
"I can do it.............with the Lord."

Yes, going to a school and only knowing ONE friend.  I think she's going to be just fine!  Needless to say, she didn't get the leads....they went to the seniors.  But I am so excited, proud, and grateful for this girl, her choices she is making, and the way she is making them.  She is happy, confident, beautiful, sweet and kind.  I love her, and it pains me to know time with her is short.

Favorite Things Party with the Girls

Best thing to ever happen to me is being back in touch with these 4 girls.  3 of them friends since Junior High, and Kadee since High School.  We have been good at getting together quarterly and this month it was my turn!

Terra (Bruce) Williams, Kadee (Campbell) Wright, Angela (Montano) McElroy, and Carrie (Stoker) Williams

Thomas and Jonathan McElroy, Clara and Liam Williams, Lauren Williams, Jaret and Ayden.

The kids entertained themselves downstairs.  And the men watched football in the living room!

We had a FAVORITE THINGS party, where everyone bought 4 of their favorite things to share!

Walmart Eco-Friendly Bags, Blender Bottle, a scarf, Burt's bee's, clear coat nail polish, Jane Iredale Lip balm, "In a Pikle" necessity kit, Bit O' Honey's, Crystal Light packs, and Orange sticks.....it was fun to get to know them a little later in life by seeing their "Favorite Things."  I think we will be doing this one again!

And of course, sweet Angela ALWAYS, ALWAYS, thankful and grateful....left me this gift.  Life is grand, with good friends!

Olivia Newton- John

Looking for something fun to celebrate the birthdays of Tina and Curtis.  Found these tickets to Olivia Newton-John at the Sandy Amphitheatre--  a little before my time I didn't know if I would be completely bored.   To my surprise I recognized about 90% of what she sang!  I'm not as young as I once thought!  Hopelessly Devoted to you, Suddenly, Summer Nights....she sang all the favorites and had us all out of our seats -- it was perfect, and so much fun!

We were entertained, well fed,  and surrounded by people we love.  We'll definitely do this again!

Labor Day in Park City

Spent the weekend before school started in Park City.  I wish I would've taken pics of the condo's that we stayed in --they were awesome!  Soooo roomy, hoping to schedule another weekend this winter to snowboard!

Cheryl, Curtis and Kate came to join us to walk through the Park City Parade of Homes, ride the Alpine Slide, eat some great food, and finish school shopping at the outlets.  Time with these kids are rare these days, love having them for an entire weekend to ourselves!

They're growing up fast.......................wishing time would please slow down!!

Cutting off the apron strings.....

Trying to earn her keep....McKennah spent the summer employed by Peak Performance Chiropractic!

And after much sadness and delay.....

just in time to start her junior year at Northridge High.....we bought her, her 1st car.

A 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser....yes, her car is newer than both Darren and I's!  Spoiled, spoiled girl!
