Love her....love her sooo much. After spending her Sophomore year at Clearfield, planting her roots, making a big group of good friends.....McKennah decided to transfer to Northridge her junior year. Our little girl and her love for choir and drama, left to be a part of a better program, one that would fit her needs. Trying to weigh out the pros and cons of the obvious choices Syracuse and Layton with her, McKennah came to us and told us she prayed about it-- twice.....and was confident and SURE Northridge was where she was to go!
We applied for a variance in February, it was approved in March, and she tried out for their Performing choirs, and the school play the last two weeks of her sophomore year. Making them both was confirmation she made the right choice!
She made the play....Les Miserables last summer.....but they spent the 4th week of school auditioning for which roles. McKennah wanted sooo much and tried out for Eponine, and Fantine.
The night before tryouts, darling girl......found her asleep with this in her hand....
"I can do it by........having good sleep."
"I can do it by........showing emotion in the song."
"I can do it by........showing facial expressions."
"I can do it by........showing dynamics."
"I can do it by........hitting the right notes."
"I can do it by........being competitive."
"I can do it by........showing my excitement."
"I can do it by........putting a smile on my face."
"I can do it by........showing others they can."
"I can do it by........using tall vowels."
"I can do it.............if I put my mind to it."
"I can do it by........listening to others sing."
"I can do it by........putting myself with a good group"
"I can do it by........working with others."
"I can do it by........when I listen to my directors."
"I can do it by........warming up."
"I can do it.............with the Lord."
Yes, going to a school and only knowing ONE friend. I think she's going to be just fine! Needless to say, she didn't get the leads....they went to the seniors. But I am so excited, proud, and grateful for this girl, her choices she is making, and the way she is making them. She is happy, confident, beautiful, sweet and kind. I love her, and it pains me to know time with her is short.
